Why I Went Quiet (And What I've Been Working On)

Last fall, I started sharing what I was learning as a student. Then... I went quiet for seven months.

Why I Stopped Blogging

I wanted to let you know why I disappeared for a while.

No, I didn't give up on this project. Quite the opposite.

The deeper I stepped into the student seat, the more I found myself learning—not just about Spanish, but about teaching, learning, and what it truly feels like to struggle through the learning process again. Those experiences became too important to keep to myself.

Instead of writing blog posts, I spent the past several months pouring those lessons into a book.

Back in the Student Seat brings together my experiences as a language learner, classroom teacher, and researcher in the hope that other educators can also rediscover what it feels like to be a student. My greatest hope is that it encourages teachers to see their students with fresh eyes and renewed empathy.

Now that the book is published, I'm excited to begin sharing again.

What's Next for Back in the Student Seat

Over the coming months, I'll not only be writing new blog posts, but I'll also be adding practical classroom resources and professional development materials to this website.

If you're an educator who would be interested in reading the book and leaving an honest

review, I'd love to hear from you. I'm giving away a limited number of complimentary copies to educators who are willing to share their honest feedback.

Simply send me a message at joy@backinthestudentseat.com.

Thank you for following this journey with me. I'm excited for what's ahead.
